Job Description

Official Position Description:

Under direction of the Environmental Supervisor obtains environmental clearance for transportation projects. Responsible for the development and coordination of environmental related reports. Provides technical assistance and investigation for other district departments cities counties and outside agencies (e.g. city engineers and planners scientists and general public) to assure adherence and compliance to state and federal laws policies and regulations.

Research sources and prepares in-house environmental documents; reviews and evaluates environmental documents from consultants counties cities and villages in areas of hazardous waste endangered species wetlands water quality air quality biological assessments environmental impact statements environmental assessments categorical exclusions 4 (f) 6(f) and 106 documents.

Provides technical assistance and direction in documentation and compilation of data obtained from field survey work related to specific project (e.g. noise studies analysis of stream data preliminary site assessments farmland impact assessments and endangered species habitat determinations. Provides environmental documentation for property and excess right of way disposal and evacuation.

Prepare correspondence; develops program status reports time estimates for completing environmental requirements and cost estimates for completing environmental phases of projects. Represents district on environmental matters at meetings with the public other agencies and/or interdepartmental. Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

-Or positions involved in providing financial technical & administrative assistance for planning design & implementation of environmental infrastructure & pollution abatement & prevention projects applicants must have completed undergraduate core coursework in business/public administration public relations/marketing political science or communications or have 4 yrs. position involving public contact to explain policies procedures & programs of agency writing of promotional &/or explanatory publications & materials budgeting contract administration & working with others on team projects. Note: For all positions engaged in field work applicants must be able to provide own transportation. New employees in EPAs solid waste program excluding those in the solid waste planning unit must obtain a sanitarian-in-training certificate during their probationary period.
