Job Description

Qualifications/Description:

  • Must meet district Teacher Assistant (TA) requirements
    • High school diploma or equivalent;
    • Highly Qualified status as required by No Child Left Behind and the Individuals with Disabilities ActAssociates Degree or have scored at least a 4 in math or reading and a 3 or better in writing on the WorkKeys test.
  • Ability to physically attend to student care needs including personal care diapering transfers to and from wheelchair tube feeding medication administration augmentative communication assistive technology devices and wheelchair mobility;
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds;
  • Provide support to students within general/special education school settings and the community;
  • Experience working with students with disabilities including but not limited to cognitive impairments autism and limited communication is preferred;
  • Ability to monitor and manage student behavior;
  • Ability to follow implement and document all aspects of Positive Behavior Intervention Plan;
  • Effective communication skills with a variety of staff members;
  • Ability to work with children in a caring nurturing manner;
  • Demonstrates flexibility teamwork organization and strong work ethic;
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality;
  • Basic computer skills preferred;
  • Ukeru and/or CPI training is preferred.
