Job Description
Qualifications/Description:
- Must meet district Teacher Assistant (TA) requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Highly Qualified status as required by No Child Left Behind and the Individuals with Disabilities ActAssociates Degree or have scored at least a 4 in math or reading and a 3 or better in writing on the WorkKeys test.
- Ability to physically attend to student care needs including personal care diapering transfers to and from wheelchair tube feeding medication administration augmentative communication assistive technology devices and wheelchair mobility;
- Ability to lift 50 pounds;
- Provide support to students within general/special education school settings and the community;
- Experience working with students with disabilities including but not limited to cognitive impairments autism and limited communication is preferred;
- Ability to monitor and manage student behavior;
- Ability to follow implement and document all aspects of Positive Behavior Intervention Plan;
- Effective communication skills with a variety of staff members;
- Ability to work with children in a caring nurturing manner;
- Demonstrates flexibility teamwork organization and strong work ethic;
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality;
- Basic computer skills preferred;
- Ukeru and/or CPI training is preferred.
