Job Description

Job Title: Applied Behavior Analyst

Department: Office of Student Support Services

Pay Grade: Licensed

Work Calendar: All11 Month Employee

FLSA Status: Exempt

GENERAL PURPOSE

This position provides services and support for students through the development coordination and implementation and monitoring of positive behavior supports in collaboration with the student interdisciplinary teams. Supports may include but are not limited to functional analysis; comprehensive behavior assessments administration of objective behavior support plans and guidelines; routine progress reporting; and staff training. This staff member reports directly to the assistant director of special education.

MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develops coordinates implements and monitors behavior supports in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams

  • Conducts functional analyses.
  • Provides comprehensive behavior assessments.
  • Administers objective behavior support plans and guidelines.
  • Provides routine progress reporting and staff training.
  • Conducts studies that measure specific influences on behavior and looks for new ways to solve inappropriate classroom behaviors.
  • Assists in identifying needs and formulating behavior plans to manage behaviors

Collaborates with treatment teams to determine how to best address long-term individual goals for students.

  • Provides instructional and behavioral intervention programs.
  • Assumes responsibility for care of materials equipment and assessment tools.
  • Participates in SEC/IEP team meetings.
  • Responds to referrals by providing consultation and collaboration with teams and central support staff.
  • Makes recommendations and conducts follow up meetings on case for students placed throughout the school division to include day and residential placements.
  • Provides ongoing training for general and special education teachers paraprofessionals administrators and related service providers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Degree from an accredited college or university in Behavior Analysis or related field (Special Education Psychology etc.).
  • One (1) year of work related experience providing ABA to children.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge
    • Knowledge of the special education process and current legal mandates as related to autism spectrum disorders.
    • Knowledge of developmentally-appropriate practices and methodologies.
    • Knowledge of classroom management strategies appropriate to the learning situation.

    • Demonstrate appropriate use of written and verbal communication.
    • Demonstrate effective positive behavioral supports and practices.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work environment is primarily inside where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.
  • The work is light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
  • The following physical and mental abilities are representative of those expected to complete the essential functions of the job: standing for prolonged periods; sitting for prolonged periods; moving the hands wrists or fingers repetitively; moving with force on the back or lower body repetitively; feeling grasping or holding objects by hand; identifying colors visually; identifying objects in low light or distant conditions; communicating via spoken language; communicating via written language; perceiving sounds; making decisions using logic and rational thinking.
