Wellcome Collection is part of Wellcome Trust a global charitable foundation that supports science to build a healthier future for everyone. Wellcome Trust plans to spend 16bn over the next ten years funding new discoveries in life health and wellbeing and taking on three global health challenges: mental health infectious disease and climate and health.
These challenges need the bold science we support but they wont be solved by science alone.
We are looking for an Inclusive Practice Advisor to join our team on a permanent basis.

Wellcomes vision of a heathier future for everyone is underpinned by an equity framework that articulates; that to achieve this vision we must drive equitable outcomes. To drive equitable health outcomes Wellcome will advance inclusive practices that broaden the range of people leading participating in and benefiting from science.
This role will join the Wellcome Collections Access Diversity and Inclusion team which is situated in Equitable Research Practice team within Wellcome Trusts broader Equity department.
This post holder will work across Wellcome Collection and the Equity department to champion anti-ableism and anti-racism in our ways of working. Championing inclusive and participatory approaches in the design and delivery of our museum and library service so that we can contribute to our vision of a world where everyones experience of health matters.
This is a matrixed team that focuses on Wellcome Collections cross disciplinary practices while working withing the wider Equity community of practice that offers insights from Wellcomes global efforts across discovery research and funded solutions programmes.
What will I be doing
This exciting role joins the wider Wellcome Collection Access Diversity and Inclusion team that support Wellcome Collection to confidently embed equity practices when working towards creating a world where everyones experience of health matters. This will be done through delivery of Wellcome Collections new AD&I strategic plan which aims to ensure diverse audiences engage with and feel a sense of belonging to Wellcome Collection by helping to embed critical and inclusive practices in our processes and culture.
We are looking for an Inclusive Practice adviser who can:
Advocate for anti-racism and anti-oppressive practices within varied disciplines across the museum archive and library. With strong understanding of intersectional approaches and awareness of anti-ableism acting as a critical voice that encourages reflective practice and improvements to process and practices that will lead towards more equitable access and outcomes.
Support individuals and teams to develop and improve their practices through a coaching approach that opens pathways to explore nuanced barriers and opportunities in the pursuit of inclusive practice.
Support piloted interventions to improve practices by supporting teams to incubate and evaluate ideas ensuring appropriate people are included informed or consulted.
Design commission and lead work to explore anti-racism anti-ableism and intersectional learning across Wellcome collections using your expertise in these areas to contribute to the community of practice within the Equity directorate.
Contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation collaborating across departments.

You are a confident communicator who can design and deliver inclusive participatory projects in a museum or cultural context ensuring underrepresented voices actively shape content and experiences. You will be experienced in utilising specialist knowledge of anti-discriminatory methods to empower Deaf disabled racially minoritised and other marginalised communities in collaborative projects. You will be aware of power dynamics when working with different communities with a culture of enabling user and participant needs to be articulated and implemented effectively. You will also enjoy building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and understand the importance of these relationships for equitable and inclusive practice.

Minimum Criteria
Ability to design and deliver inclusive participatory projects in a museum or cultural context ensuring underrepresented voices actively shape content and experiences
Deep specialism and demonstrable success in implementing anti-discriminatory methods with practical knowledge of approaches that empower Deaf disabled racially minoritised and other marginalised communities
Strong stakeholder engagement communication and change management skills capable of influencing both internal teams and external community partners to embed inclusive practice effectively

At Wellcome we have a hybrid way of working which is 3 days in our Euston Road offices (Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday) with the remaining 2 days working either remotely or in the office.
