Summary:
The School Social Worker supports the academic and social-emotional success of students by providing services that strengthen the home-school-community partnership. They assess student needs provide individual and group services assist in crisis intervention and collaborate with staff and families to remove barriers to learning and promote student well-being.
Qualifications/Description:
- Masters of Social Work degree with School Social Work certification - Michigan School Social Worker certification.
- Support social-emotional-behavioral needs of all students.
- Proactive approach to behavior and mental health needs & wellbeing.
- Support the implementation of social-emotional learning curriculum.
- Maintain a caseload of students with accurate and timely records and documentation following Michigan special education guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with teachers administrators counselors and other professionals to coordinate services and support for students.
- Provide direct services to students including individual and small groups.
- Develop and implement positive behavior support plans (PBSP) and interventions.
- Write implement and monitor Plans of Care for general education students.
- Bill for mental health services (Medicaid eligible students)
- Participate in threat assessments.
- Contribute as an active member of the child study / student services team crisis response team and PBIS School Leadership team in the assigned building.
- Experience supporting programs for students with autism and cognitive impairments is preferred
- Demonstrate the ability to support inclusion for students with disabilities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues parents and students.
- Ensure compliance with federal state and district policies including confidentiality and mandated reporting laws.
- Ukeru and/or CPI training is preferred.
