About the Role
- Position Summary
- Galloway is seeking an experienced innovative and technically driven Senior Geomatics Surveyor to join our dynamic team as a Subject Matter Expert (SME). This is a pivotal leadership role designed for a professional who excels in both advanced technical expertise and team development.
As a recognized leader in land surveying and geospatial sciences you will be responsible for driving technical excellence mentoring staff developing internal standards and guiding the strategic growth of our survey services. This role is ideal for someone passionate about innovation training and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership
- Act as a senior technical expert in land surveying geodesy and GPS/GNSS applications.
- Lead the development and refinement of standard operating procedures technical guidelines and white papers.
- Support complex surveying efforts involving control networks high-precision datums and geospatial data integrity.
- Drive R&D initiatives that integrate new technologies such as LiDAR UAS (drones) and GIS-based tools.
Team Development
- Train and mentor field and office survey staff across all levels.
- Develop and maintain professional development pathways for technical team members.
- Foster a collaborative and educational work environment that supports individual growth and team success.
Process & Quality Management
- Spearhead QA/QC activities across all survey deliverables and workflows.
- Implement consistent standards for quality assurance data accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Review and approve boundary surveys plats legal descriptions and technical reports.
- Meet regularly with key client contacts to understand project objectives communicate technical strategies and ensure alignment throughout the survey lifecycle
Strategic Services Expansion
- Guide the strategic expansion of surveying services geographically and technologically.
- Recommend and oversee adoption of new tools and processes to improve team capabilities and deliverables.
- Collaborate with firm leadership to identify emerging opportunities and new service offerings.
- Meet regularly with key client contacts to understand project objectives communicate technical strategies and ensure alignment throughout the survey lifecycle
Project & Operational Support
- Provide leadership and technical oversight on key projects.
- Assist in scoping budgeting and client engagement for high-impact survey efforts.
- Collaborate with engineering planning and architectural teams to ensure integrated project execution.
Talent Strategy
- Advise on hiring strategy and staffing needs as survey operations grow.
- Advise on potential mergers and acquisitions.
- Identify attract and support high-potential talent within the team.
- Contribute to building a high-performance team through leadership and mentorship.
RequirementsMinimum Qualifications
- Minimum of a Masters Degree with PhD preferred in Geomatics Engineering or similar discipline.
- Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in at least one U.S. state (Colorado preferred or the ability to obtain quickly).
- 20 years of experience in land surveying with at least 5 years in a senior technical or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of geodesy GPS/GNSS surveying and geospatial data management.
- Proficiency in tools such as Trimble Business Center Civil 3D AutoCAD GIS platforms and field instrumentation.
- Proven record of mentoring SOP development and technical writing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Multi-state licensure.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary A&E environment.
- Demonstrated leadership in implementing innovative survey technologies.
- Authorship or presentation of technical content in industry forums or publications.

BenefitsThe estimated starting base salary for this role is $130000 to $160000.
