HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
The Senior Accountant will report to the Controller and is responsible for accounting related to monthly accruals accrued expenses preparing various monthly reconciliations preparation and/or review of variance analysis preparing and recording journal entries audit schedules and special projects as needed. The Senior Accountant will work with other departments within the Company to ensure the books records and reports are accurate and reported in a timely manner..
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Accounting & Financial Reporting
Prepare and review journal entries account reconciliations and monthly close activities
Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings (10-Q 10-K)
Maintain and ensure accuracy of general ledger accounts including revenue inventory fixed assets accruals and prepaid balances
Providing and presenting commentary on fluctuations in assigned GL accounts to senior management
Support internal and external audits by providing schedules and explanations as needed
Ensure compliance with internal policies and accounting standards
Providing schedules support to other functions of the company including Financial Reporting
Recommend and help implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
Mentor and provide guidance to staff accountants
SOX Compliance
Act as a key contributor to the SOX compliance program
Perform and document key SOX controls ensuring adherence to internal control frameworks
Work with internal and external auditors during SOX testing and financial audits
Identify opportunities to improve internal controls and streamline financial processes
Ensure timely and accurate reporting in accordance with US GAAP
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills including listening verbal written and presentation with the ability to communicate effectively within various levels of the company and senior leadership.
Exhibit the ability to thrive in a creative dynamic fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
Exhibit the ability to handle sensitive matters and information with tact diplomacy and confidentiality.
Demonstrate strong analytical critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail ability to multitask remain organized and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines.
Self-motivated team player with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively across the organization.
Incorporate customer-centric values and SPIRIT principles into the companys mission vision and core values.
Advanced experience in Microsoft Excel including formulas and pivot tables.
Strong understanding of US GAAP and internal controls (COSO framework)
Education/Experience
Bachelors degree in accounting or finance (CPA or progress toward CPA preferred)
Proficient in Excel and ERP systems.
Excellent attention to detail analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
3-5 years of relevant experience. Public Accounting experience preferred
Public accounting experience with Big 4 or working in a large public company
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This job operates in a professional office environment. It is largely a sedentary role with some filing requiring the ability to lift files open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. The ability to sit or stand for long periods during meetings and while operating office equipment PCs laptops and telephones will be required.
