At GBH we believe in the advantages of coming together to build community mentor and learn from colleagues and connect more deeply with our mission. As a result the majority of our staff are hybrid and work both from home and onsite. Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week every Tuesday and one other day to be determined by their business unit. Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager.
DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
Morning Edition is seeking a news conscious fall intern who is eager to get hands on experience producing a fast paced and well-informed live news broadcast. We start working to write and produce the days news before most people wake up in the morning. This is a writing intensive job - be ready to write! You will need to have a love of news gathering and a willingness to share your thoughts and ideas is necessary. You will work alongside host Mark Herz and the Morning Edition team to bring hundreds of thousands of people the news on the radio and online every morning. You will report to the shows production team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Being well informed on current news and events
- Assist in fact-checking details for on-air copy
- Assist in preparing and researching host interviews
- Pitch story ideas
- Write copy on a short deadline to be used for broadcast
- Assist with web duties including transcribing interviews
SKILL SET
- Hands-on experience in radioproduction
- Assist with daily show preparation and execution
- Learn about the operations of a live multi-platform broadcast
- Strong writing skills
JOB STATUS
Paid Internship $17/hour (Part Time 20 hours)
LOCATION: One Guest Street Boston MA
INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW
GBH internships provide students with valuable work experience and real-world knowledge across many different fields of study from TV and radio production to web design accounting law and other administrative arenas.
INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
- Internship dates: September 15th to December 5th.
- Candidates must have their own computer and access to Wifi.
- Candidates must be in an Undergrad or Grad program and have work authorization for the United States.
