Role: Travel RN - Med/Surg/Telemetry Location: Johnson City NY Shift: Nights Duration: 13 weeks Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week Job Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) - Med/Surg/Telemetry will deliver compassionate and high-quality nursing care to patients in a Medical-Surgical and Telemetry unit. This role involves managing the care of adult patients with diverse medical conditions including those requiring continuous cardiac monitoring. The RN will utilize advanced clinical knowledge and skills to provide patient care monitor health status administer medications and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team. Key Responsibilities Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients physical emotional and psychological needs including cardiac rhythm and vital signs monitoring. Care Planning & Implementation: Develop and execute individualized care plans. Administer medications treatments and therapies as prescribed. Telemetry Monitoring: Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms continuously responding to any abnormalities. Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely records of assessments interventions and changes in patient conditions using the EHR. Patient Education: Educate patients and families about diagnoses treatment plans medications and post-hospital care to ensure understanding and adherence. Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare professionals including physicians respiratory therapists and physical therapists to optimize patient outcomes. Advocacy & Support: Act as a patient advocate addressing concerns while fostering a safe and compassionate environment. Emergency Response: Quickly and effectively respond to medical emergencies initiating necessary interventions and alerting the healthcare team. Patient Safety: Adhere to infection control practices safety protocols and nursing care standards. Continuous Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives staff meetings and ongoing education to advance nursing practice and patient care. Qualifications Education: Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Licenses & Certifications: Active and valid RN license for the state. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred or required within a designated timeframe). Telemetry certification (preferred or must be obtained within a specified period).
