As a Special Education Teacher you will play a key role in supporting students with diverse learning needs by developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs). Your instruction will be tailored to align with state and district standards utilizing evidence-based strategies to promote academic growth and student achievement. Ongoing assessment and progress monitoring will guide your approach ensuring that each student receives the appropriate level of support.
Collaboration is essential in this position as you will work closely with general education teachers support staff and families to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Clear and consistent communication with stakeholders along with detailed documentation of student progress will be critical aspects of your role. Additionally you will foster positive student behavior through reinforcement techniques and structured interventions.
Active engagement in IEP meetings professional development sessions and staff collaboration will ensure you stay informed on best practices and new developments in the field. Your responsibilities will also include identifying students with special needs providing instruction at the middle school level adapting curriculum to meet individual learning requirements and supporting students with mild to moderate disabilities in reaching their full potential.
Requirements
- Bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university (master s degree preferred).
- Prior experience as a Special Education Teacher or in a similar setting preferably supporting early childhood learners.
- Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an LBS1 endorsement (alternative credentials will not be accepted).
