Nursing Instructor/Clinical Teaching Assistant
TWO-YEAR GRANT-FUNDED POSITION (Fall 2025 through Summer 2027)
Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Associate Vice President (AVP) of Nursing Allied Health & Public Safety works collaboratively with the nursing faculty team to fulfill two roles: 1.) to provide support to FT nursing instructors for clinical and classroom instruction; and 2.) to serve as a clinical lab and simulation nursing instructor. Job duties may be performed on campus and at approved clinical and community-based sites.
Essential Duties
- Collaborate with the nursing faculty team to implement the curriculum of the program which is affiliated with the Oregon Consortium of Nursing Education (OCNE).
- Collaborate with nursing faculty team to implement instructional activities for skills labs simulations (virtual and live) and rotations in acute care specialty care long-term care community-based settings and occasionally for lecture/classroom settings.
- Provide clinical lab and simulation support during student learning activities including performing lab/sim setup/takedown and facilitating out-of-class practice sessions for at-risk students.
- Assist in the development of a comprehensive skills lab equipment list for both first- and second-year labs and simulations. Coordinate supply orders with Program Assistant and faculty throughout the year.
- Collaborate with computer services and facilities to ensure regular maintenance of lab/sim equipment and manikins to ensure all are in working order throughout the year.
- Develop implement and evaluate student practice experiences including selecting learning experiences assessing and guiding students and evaluating client and student safety and learning outcomes with an emphasis on clinical skills lab simulation and community-based settings.
- Evaluate student achievement of identified learning objectives and outcomes and assign grades according to policies. Develop and facilitate performance improvement plans (PIPs) and clinical contracts for students at risk as per Nursing Program and College policies while providing guidance and support as they meet the requirements of the Program.
- Provide academic advising to students and maintain regular office hours per Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
- Maintain professional competence and job qualifications as regulated by the Oregon State Board of Nursing and the College.
- Interpret and communicate program goals and student learning objectives/outcomes to staff in practice settings.
- Participate in faculty service including college committees workgroups and governance.
- Participate cooperatively with agencies and other educational programs to facilitate appropriate and equitable access to practice sites.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in nursing.
- Three years of recent clinical nursing experience
- Hold a current unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in Oregon. Candidate hired for this position will be required to obtain an Oregon license by September 15 2025

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors degree in nursing with expressed interest in enrollment and/or progress towards a masters degree in nursing
Knowledge
- Knowledge of scope of practice of RN as identified by OSBN.
- Knowledge of various types of instructional delivery modes including web-based instruction.
- Knowledge of the nursing process and how it relates to nursing education.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with the OCNE curriculum.
Skills
- Skill in oral written and interpersonal communication as applied to presentations and interaction with faculty staff and students.
- Skill in problem solving and working in a team environment.
- Skill in computer operations including word processing applications.
- Skill in using Canvas or similar learning management system (LMS).
- Skill in the development of performance and/or classroom evaluation.
- Skill in promoting critical thinking in a variety of educational settings.

- Ability and willingness to maintain currency in the field of nursing practice.
