Job Title: ESL (English as a Second Language) TeacherLocation: Leahy (Leonard) Middle SchoolJob Type: Full-TimeReports to: Principal Job Type: 183 daysJob Summary:The Leahy (Leonard) Middle School is seeking a committed and culturally responsive ESL Teacher to support English Learners (ELs) in acquiring English language proficiency and accessing grade-level content. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in second language acquisition effective strategies for language development and a passion for serving a diverse student population in an urban setting. Bilingual candidates (Spanish/English preferred) are strongly encouraged to Responsibilities:Instruction & Language Development:oDesign and deliver engaging instruction to develop students speaking listening reading and writing skills in research-based instructional strategies aligned with WIDA standards and the districts language development with content area teachers to support ELs in accessing grade-level curriculum across instruction based on students English proficiency levels and learning Support & Advocacy:oMonitor student progress using formative assessments and language proficiency and implement English Language Development (ELD) plans and accommodations for as an advocate for English Learners and ensure equitable access to programs services and & Professional Development:oPartner with general education teachers to co-plan co-teach and provide language supports in the in ongoing professional learning related to ESL practices culturally responsive teaching and inclusive district and school-level meetings focused on EL services compliance and instructional & Documentation:oMaintain accurate records related to student language proficiency services provided and program with language screening identification and annual assessments (e.g. WIDA ACCESS).oEnsure compliance with federal state and district policies for EL & Community Engagement:oCommunicate effectively with multilingual families and provide regular updates on student family engagement by participating in conferences workshops and culturally inclusive with community organizations that support English Learner & Requirements:Education & Certification:oBachelors degree in TESOL Education or a related field (Masters preferred).oValid MA ESL License or eligibility for & Skills:oExperience teaching English Learners in an urban setting of second language acquisition theory and culturally responsive with WIDA standards and ACCESS testing interpersonal communication and collaboration to integrate technology into language (Spanish/English) preferred but not & Benefits:Competitive salary based on experience and district pay benefits package including health dental and retirement to professional development and support for ESL and mission-driven school : $56415.00-$84063.00
