Job Description

Truck Freight Merchandiser and Rail Scheduler- Decatur IL

This role is Wednesday through Sunday usually 8-4. Remote Friday Saturday and Sunday


This role is responsible for all aspects of truck movements including but not limited to: the implementation & execution of shipment plans developing a network of carriers to support the needs of ADMs Wheat Midds distribution & negotiating carrier rates. In addition this role will be responsible for weekend railcar billing duties for Ethanol and CoProducts & weekend truck logistics for Wheat Midds. This position will analyze rates and accessorial charges to ensure ADM is cost competitive in the market place. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Wheat Midds team to learn and develop a distribution plan to support the market. The candidate must be highly organized an effective communicator quick thinker harness strong problem solving skills and the ability to manage conflict.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Daily scheduling and tracking of Wheat Midds truck deliveries
  • Work closely with wheat mills to ensure shipment plans align with mills needs
  • Develop and manage a carrier network to support ADMs Distribution needs
  • Understand the Wheat Midds distribution network
  • Maximize carrier efficiency and service along with rate economics
  • Negotiate freight rates with carriers
  • Manage carrier relations.
  • Manage customer relations
  • Generate solutions to Customer and/or Carrier supply chain
  • Manage contract ratability on all truck contract
  • Tracking vetting and reporting of truck detention invoiced to ADM
  • Invoicing of truck detention to ADM Customers
  • BOL tracking
  • Communicate market information from carriers and customers
  • Organize all carrier meetings and presentations.
  • Travel to meet carriers customers and terminals as necessary
  • Travel to trade organization events as necessary
  • Analyze rates and accessorial charges to ensure that they are competitive.
  • Ensure new rates are added to system.
  • Ensure proper carrier codes are on all contracts
  • Works closely with Plant terminals carriers and customers on downtime and other disruptions
  • Work with trucking payables/carriers on outstanding accounting issues
  • Handles denaturant truck needs for the ADM plants
  • Participate in Department Meetings
  • Monitors and reports the national fuel surcharge
  • Create individual goals and objectives and report progress.
  • Track and report trends in carrier markets.
  • Cross train on terminal scheduling to back up coworkers
REQUIREMENTS:
  • 3-5 yrs of experience within ADM or industry preferred
  • Previous scheduling experience preferred
  • Microsoft Office
  • ADM order and invoicing systems APGO OPGO FCGO
  • ADM Truck Rate System
  • Maximo Experience
  • Document Direct

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors including market location job-related knowledge skills and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
