Job Description

Position Title:

Program Specialist Inclusive Excellence

Time Type:

Position Summary and Qualifications:

The Program Specialist supports the mission of the Office of Inclusive Excellence by overseeing and managing programming for the Center for Inclusion and Diversity (CID) and the Womens Center (WC) as well as maintaining the Offices efforts to build a sense of belonging and maintain an inclusive campus environment. This position collaborates with students faculty staff and alumni to create programs events activities and learning opportunities in a team-based environment toward the goal of facilitating belonging development learning and engagement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead external partnerships programming grant opportunities and alumni outreach including but not limited to reaching out to community partners to engage with our office strengthening alumni relationships and programming and researching and applying for external grants and funding.

  • Support and assist with the programming calendar that encourages community involvement and outreach for the University community.

  • Assist with outreach professional mentoring advocacy support and resource referrals for students with underrepresented and under-resourced identities to increase persistence to graduation.

  • Co-lead and co-coordinate workshops and other training programs for student groups student leaders and residence hall programs.

  • Assist with programming and advising support to the student organizations for affinity populations that are funded by the Student Budget Allocated Committee (SBAC).

  • Co-facilitate monthly meetings and leadership training of the Multicultural Club Council (executive boards of the student organizations).

  • Co-coordinate and assist with events and activities to support diverse student learning retention and belonging including the Running Start Program Womens Center programs and our contributions to New Student Orientation.

  • Co-plan and support the annual Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion Retreat including coordination of transportation and housing for students and workshop facilitators.

  • Co-coordinate student-centered events including the Diversity Lecture Series the Taste of the World Kwanzaa Celebration; co-facilitate and support movie nights heritage month activities and others that may arise.

  • Create and maintain marketing outreach and social media presence for the Center for Inclusion and Diversity.

  • Collaborate with partners across University locations and represent the Office of Inclusive Excellence at Admissions Events programming training Department presentations panels and other events as needed.

  • Serve as an active member of standing committees and ad hoc committees thataddress diversity equity and/or inclusion including Day of Dialogue.

  • Support the hiring training and supervision of the CID and WC federal work study employees.

  • Process invoices and assist in tracking and reporting expenses.

Secondary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support the assessment and evaluation of student participation and professional development.

  • Assist with the updating of the ODEI website.

  • Co-Advise Alpha Alpha Alpha First Generation Honor Society

  • Support work in other areas of the Office of Inclusive Excellence.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The person who holds this position has been classified as a Campus Security Authority under the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act).

Minimum Qualifications (Education/Training and Experience):

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse student body.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with faculty staff and student constituencies.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

  • Clear and effective written verbal and public speaking communication skills across settings and constituencies.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to multitask.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Bachelors degree.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with and appreciation for Jesuit higher education.

  • Conversant understanding of student development practice.

  • Familiarity with web updating software (e.g. Drupal).

  • Skills in planning organizing and managing funds including controlling spending analyzing trends and ensuring compliance.

Physical Requirements &/or Unusual Work Hours:

  • Ability and willingness to work occasional weekend and evening hours.

  • Ability to move about campus.
