Job Description

Were hiring a Prep Cook for Schaffers Mill in Truckee CA

Ideal candidates are highly dependable detail-oriented and able to take direction well in a fast-paced environment. The Prep Cook is responsible for properly preparing all food maintaining quality control sanitizing workstations following all procedures and recipes receiving inventories and more. Food Safety and Sanitation Training is required upon hire.

Ideal candidates have flexible schedules with availability to work weekends and holidays as needed. This includes competitive compensation starting at $24 an hour.

Responsibilities

  • Follows recipes and/or product directions for proper food preparation
  • Maintains quality control for all products including monitoring freshness of product daily
  • Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas by hand or cart
  • Prepares appropriate equipment for cooking
  • Operates kitchen utensils and/or equipment used for weighing measuring mixing washing peeling cutting grinding stirring straining slicing assembling and kneading of food products
  • Ensures proper food handling procedures are followed wrapping labeling dating stocking storing rotating and checking temperature of products
  • Receives and inventories food and beverage product and supplies
  • Cleans and sanitizes workstation and equipment
  • Ability to perform any other duties as assigned by Department Manager

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English)
  • Food Safety and Sanitation Training

Working Conditions

  • Frequently stands uses hands talks listens tastes and smells
  • Regularly walks and reaches with hands and arms
  • Occasionally sits climbs balances stoops kneels crouches or crawls
  • Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds
  • Regularly works in heat (non-weather) and near moving mechanical part
  • Occasionally works in cold (non-weather) wet or humid conditions (non-weather) near toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Noise level is moderate
