The Department of Art and Art History at Wesleyan University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Art with specialization in Sculpture beginning July 1 2026. The teaching load is two courses per semester in the area of Sculpture as well as senior thesis advising in Sculpture. The successful candidate will maintain technical expertise in a wide range of sculptural skills and practices including traditional and experimental approaches and their potential interactions as well as a broad knowledge of the history of art especially the history and contemporary theory of sculpture.
The new faculty member will maintain a robust artistic practice as a strong exhibition and/or publishing record will be expected for promotion. The successful candidate will join a distinguished Studio Art Program with a shared commitment to teaching traditional and experimental media. Studio facilities include traditional metal and wood shops as well as digital fabrication equipment. Additional duties include management of the sculpture studio (working with the support staff including student monitors) advising and mentoring students and participating in faculty governance at the departmental and university levels.
Minimum requirements:MFA in Art or a related field.
