Director, Senior Counsel – Product & Privacy

Scopely is looking for a Director Senior Counsel Product & Privacy to join our Legal Teamin Culver City CA or San Francisco CA on a hybrid basis. This individual will be a part of the global legal product and privacy function advising teams oncompliance with laws covering privacy data security IP marketing and consumer protection. Key responsibilities include providing legal guidance on game development marketing andgame platform technologies; managing privacy compliance; and implementing product andmarketing compliance processes across multiple platforms.

What You Will Do

• Counsel Product Engineering IT/Security Data Analytics Business DevelopmentMarketing Customer Support Community People PR/Communications
  Advertising/Monetization User Acquisition and other teams on legal and regulatoryissues related to game development and commercialization including compliance with
  US and international laws related to privacy and data security protection IP marketingand consumer protection
• Drive Scopelys multi-platform legal compliance strategy for games launched acrossmultiple platforms including console PC mobile and Steam
• Manage privacy and data protection compliance processes in partnership with othercross-functional teams including conducting global data mapping reviews updating
  internal- and external-facing notices and policies and managing and advising on internalcompliance procedures
• Work with product teams to review products features in-game events monetizationmarketing promotions platform technology and other initiatives and provide practical
  advice to manage legal and regulatory risk
• Provide guidance and support on trademark copyright and patent issues

What Were Looking For

• Minimum 8 years of combined relevant experience in a law firm and/or in-house legaldepartment preferably working within gaming media or other technology with in-house
  gaming experience strongly preferred
• Significant experience working with multi-platform games including AAA games on console and PC platforms Steam and web experiences and strong working knowledgeof applicable platform requirements
• Significant experience advising on legal and regulatory considerations in the video game industry ideally with a focus on privacy and data protection frameworks (e.g. GDPRCCPA COPPA Privacy Shield etc.) marketing and consumer protection
• Experience advising and working with cross-functional teams through all phases of game development from concept through global launch and providing ongoing support for live games
• Strong academic credentials
• Experience working with global teams cross-functionally and across time zones
• Attention to detail problem-solving mentality and ability to follow through in a fast-paced environment
• A team player mindset (no job is too big or too small)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to multitask and re-prioritize based on changing needs
• Sense of humor and a passion for mobile gaming
