Job Description

Position Description:

The Medical College of Wisconsins Department of Neurology is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide primary or specialty medical care within defined scope of practice under the supervision of a licensed physician and in accordance with MCW/FMLH/CHW policies and procedures. Position is located in Milwaukee WI at Froedtert Hospital Specialty Clinics.

In this role you will:

  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary health care team providing a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services for the patients of theoutpatient services as amember of the Department ofNeurology- Movement team.
  • Have a strongfoundation in evidence-based practice and ensure an environment of safe qualitycare.

Core Advanced Practice Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive histories and physical exams identifies normal and abnormal findings including physical cognitive and psychosocial status.
  • Order perform and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests and appropriately communicates and documents information
  • Write accurate and timely progress notes procedure notes and/or admission and transfer orders
  • Develop pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans.
  • Monitor effectiveness of plan of care
  • Educate patients on disease and treatment plans.
  • Perform procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed.
  • Document within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and completes other necessary documents.
  • Collaborate and/or consults with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate.
  • Educates counsels and assists patients and families regarding current health problems health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors.
  • Attend required training and meets key regulatory requirements including those of the privileging institution CMS and the Joint Commission.
  • Acquires information on the most current development and trends in the Physician Assistant field and/or Nurse Practitioner field through educational programs in-services professional associates and current literature.

Schedule: Monday through Friday 8AM-5PM. No weekends holidays or night shift. Hours subject to change pending APP commitments service acuities/census and senior resident days off. Opportunity for further discussion regarding schedule flexibility and hours with the hiring manager.

Position Requirements:

Education Requirements:

Advanced Practice Nurse

  • Masters Degree or higher in Nursing

Physician Assistant

  • Bachelors Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies

Preferred Experience: Minimum of two years APP experience preferred but not required.

Minimum Requirements: *or eligible

Advanced Practice Nurse

Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner

  • Wisconsin RN License
  • Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License
  • Certification as APN
  • AHA BCLS DEA
  • CITI Certification to be completed within 90 days of hire
  • NP or Acute Care NP
  • Will consider certification as Family Practice
  • Certification as Adult Care NP preferred.

Physician Assistant

  • Wisconsin PA license
  • Certification by NCCPA
  • AHA BLS DEA
  • CITI Certification to be completed within 90 days of hire.
