Job Title: Tool Maker

Position Overview:
The Tool Maker is responsible for designing fabricating and repairing precision tools and fixtures used in manufacturing processes. This role requires a high degree of skill and technical knowledge along with the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications. The Tool Maker will work collaboratively within a team environment contributing to the optimization of production efficiency and quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tool Design and FabricationCreate modify and enhance tools and fixtures based on engineering specifications ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
- Machining Operations: Operate various machine tools such as lathes milling machines and grinders to fabricate tool components with precision.
- Inspection and Testing: Conduct thorough inspections of finished tools and fixtures using precision measuring instruments to ensure compliance with design specifications.
- Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on tools and machinery troubleshooting issues as they arise to minimize downtime.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and production staff to understand tool requirements and provide input on process improvements and cost reduction measures.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of tool designs modifications inspections and maintenance activities ensuring all documentation meets regulatory and company standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or apprenticeship in tool making or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in tool making or a similar role with a demonstrated ability to work with various materials and tool types.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating machine tools and using precision measuring instruments; familiarity with CAD software is an asset.
- Problem-Solving Ability: Strong analytical skills with the capability to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively and efficiently.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work to ensure the highest quality standards are met.
- Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate within a team and convey technical information clearly.
Work Environment:
The Tool Maker will work primarily in a manufacturing environment which may involve exposure to machinery and tools. Safety protocols must be strictly followed to maintain a safe and productive workspace.
