SUMMARY:
The Laboratory Assistant under direction of the Laboratory Manager enhances and extends the productivity of the Clinical Laboratory by performing patient accommodative services including Phlebotomy Specimen Receipt in the Core Lab area Operation of the Laboratory Specimen Pre-Analytics Automation System Specimen Processing of samples for Transport to various Reference Laboratories and Technical procedures as assigned; assumes other duties and responsibilities as directed by Supervisor.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent; one year experience as a laboratory assistant phlebotomist laboratory aide/processor or handler; excellent verbal communication skills.
PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:
Physical guidelines include the ability to move traverse position self remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; mobility exposure to hazardous/bio-hazardous materials; manual dexterity and motor coordination; read and understand medical information visual and auditory acuity; distinguish colors; maneuver objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
