Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

The Buyer/Planner will be primarily responsible for the planning and purchasing direct materials indirect materials services and equipment to support the Tempe plant operations. Work closely with the Production and Warehouse teams to ensure inventory accuracy and material availability. Assist the Materials Manager with production planning. This role will report to the Materials Manager.

  • Purchase of Raw Materials Expense MRO Materials Services and Equipment in support of Plant Operations. For example:
    • Direct materials (OTS: Off The Shelf components as well as Erbe-specific components) and services related to product manufacturing (ex: product sterilization)
    • Indirect materials and services for internal use in support of product manufacturing
    • Contract services used to support manufacturing processes including maintenance and calibration services
    • Commercial equipment and tooling purchases for support of product manufacture.
  • Maintain Supplier-Item settings in ERP system: Lead Times MOQ Volume Price Breaks
  • PO Management:
    • Timely release of requirements to suppliers (respecting LT)
    • Supplier Promised Date maintenance/accuracy. Promptly communicate any significant deviations
    • Current Drawings/Specifications are provided as applicable
    • Supplier change notifications are shared with Supplier Quality Mgt. Engineering and Production
    • Work with warehouse and finance to ensure timely processing of each of receipts and invoices respectively.
  • Assist with the maintenance of:
    • Forecasts
    • Capacity Planning
    • Master Production Schedules
    • Work Orders
    • Planning parameters such as Safety Stocks Lead Times etc.
  • Meet objectives in each of these areas: Service Levels Inventory Turns Supplier Performance (Quality Delivery Cost).
  • Inventory Management:
    • Avoid inventory stock-outs that could cause production stoppages
    • No Aged inventory and any associated risks for obsolescence
    • Help maintain inventory accuracy and assist in finding root causes of inventory errors
    • Master these skills: barcoding Kanban inventory transactions and cycle counting
  • Additional misc. duties and assignments as assigned by the Manager

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment

This position operates in an office and manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers filing cabinets and fax machines. The position also interacts with machinery on the manufacturing floor and numerous devices that are sold by the company.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand walk and stoop; use hands to finger handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

This position requires 10% travel.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in a related field
  • Min 1 years of experience in a Materials/Planning/Supply Chain/Business management in the medical device industry or a regulated industry
  • ERP experience required JDE preferred
