Job Description
Lighthouse Lab Services is seeking an experienced Molecular Technologist to join a new lab for a urology practice near Pasadena TX. This new in-house laboratory specializes in molecular testing with a primary emphasis on PCR UTI testing. We are looking for candidates that are comfortable working 30 hours per week to start with the potential for hours to increase as the lab volume grows. Hours will most likely be Mon-Friday 8am-2pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform molecular testing with a primary focus on PCR-based UTI testing.
- Operate maintain and troubleshoot QuantStudio equipment to ensure accurate and efficient results.
- Conduct DNA/RNA extraction and prepare samples for real-time PCR analysis.
- Analyze interpret and report test results with a high degree of accuracy.
- Maintain strict adherence to laboratory protocols including compliance with HIPAA cGMP and CAP/CLIA regulations.
- Manage laboratory inventory including reagents and consumables ensuring readiness for testing.
- Collaborate with medical staff to optimize test performance and turnaround times.
- Participate in quality assurance activities including instrument calibration proficiency testing and performance monitoring.
- Provide technical support and training for staff as needed.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelors degree in Molecular Biology Biotechnology or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in molecular diagnostics with specific expertise in PCR testing.
- Hands-on experience with QuantStudio equipment is required.
- Skills:
- Proficient in DNA/RNA extraction and real-time PCR techniques.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance including CAP/CLIA standards.
