Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Senior Mechanical Architecture Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks in Engineering Department. The position is based in PISTOIA - IT.

Accountabilities

  • Define train architecture and transversal performances (weight gauge ergonomics)
  • Draft and manage the technical specification of provision ensuring alignment with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain layout designs for vehicle seating areas in compliance with standards and project needs.
  • Monitor project KPIs and evaluate design constraints related to Sub-System Breakdown Structure (SBS) activities and deliverables.
  • Lead structural engineering activities including codesign and welded parts of carbody components.
  • Define the mechanical interfaces of the carbody shell structure and related sub-systems.
  • Perform requirements management using standard tools such as DOORS.

Required Skills/ Knowledge

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience of at least 3 years in complex projects in the railway industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant standards and regulations for rail vehicle design.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as Autodesk and CREO 11.
  • Experience with requirements management tools (DOORS preferred).
  • Basic knowledge of electrics and mechanics is required.
  • Knowledge of the main office automation software/tools (Word Excel etc.)
  • Knowledge of mechanical design software (Autocad Creo Catia etc.) and the IBM DOORS requirements management tool.
  • Knowledge of Engineering Processes and Railway Operations.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organisation with the attitude to contribute with constructive and practical ideas.
  • Readiness to work effectively in a collaborative fast-paced multitasking international environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously in teams and for projects is required.
  • Availability for short-term national and international business trip.

  • Ability to manage and plan the assigned tasks independently and team-working.
  • Ability to analyze business requirements problem-solving attitude and business process analysis.
  • Ability to face with the different internal functions (internal customer) and external (suppliers customers partners).
  • Planning and organization.
  • Versatile in learning and strong desire to remain up-to-date with changes in technology and best industry practices.
  • Strong business acumen & technical skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attitude to work in an international and multi-cultural reality.

Education / Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical background

Languages

Good knowledge of written and spoken English is mandatory.

English language knowledge on at least international B2 level
