QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
Education: DMD or DDS with a PhD in biomedical or foundation science content area or a PhD with experience in teaching clinically related topics in higher education.
Experience and Training:
Experience Level Open to new Ph.D. graduates experienced clinicians transitioning from practice and individuals eager to make a difference in dental education.
Attributes Passion for teaching dedication to learner success and a collaborative spirit.
Preferred Experience:
2 years of prior teaching experience at the university level ideally in a dental medical school or other healthcare practice.
Experience with best practices such as flipped classroom case-based or team-based learning is essential.
Passion for interdisciplinary and collaborative work and innovation in a startup environment.
Specialty training in Pathology Oral Medicine or Hospital setting.
Curriculum outcomes or accreditation mapping experience is a plus.
A research agenda in the science of teaching and learning social/behavioral sciences analytics market analysis clinical research or related fields is . Wet benches and animal facilities are not supported at this time.
Knowledge Skills Ability:
Preferred Skills:
A Biomedical Sciences generalist who has expertise in multiple systems/disciplines especially respiratory cardiovascular renal immunology genetics pathogenesis and/or microbiology but all disciplines are welcome to apply.
Experience with statistical software (e.g. SPSS R Python SAS) and data analytics platforms.
Familiarity with securing research funding from government and private sources.
Strong communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration and presenting complex concepts.
Ability to bridge foundational science topics into clinical relevance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Faculty Responsibilities:
Teach biomedical sciences content from a system-based approach that is fully integrated/interdisciplinary. A single session will be driven either by clinical context with anatomy physiology biochemistry pharmacology microbiology pathophysiology etc. supporting or vice versa. The addition of patient management and behavioral sciences will complete your session.
Design and deliver innovative evidence-based sessions/curricula aligned with modern dental education standards such as CODA and INDBE.
Collaborate with clinical and behavioral sciences faculty and learning science staff to ensure that biomedical sciences are seamlessly integrated into the broader dental curriculum.
Willingness to teach in our simulated spaces-haptics patient simulation in your area of expertise.
Mentor and support learners through office hours and personalized support meetings.
Ability to support/take a leadership role in your academic service commitments through research compliance big data analytics continuing education EPIC training QA/QI IPE mentorship programing etc.
Developing a research program/agenda to fit the needs of the school.
Other duties as requestion by the Dean ELT or Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Reports To: The Director of Biomedical Sciences HPU Workman School of Dental Medicine (WSDM)
Evaluation: Ongoing performance reviews will be conducted along with an annual assessment by the Director of Biomedical Sciences Assistant Dean of Faculty Affairs and/or Associate Dean of Academic Affairs with input gathered from the ELT faculty and staff.
