Turner Industries Group LLC has an opening for a Civil/Structural Estimator to join our Project Controls Team in Houston TX and be placed at a jobsite in Pasadena or the surrounding area. The estimator has the responsibility to develop accurate industrial projects estimates and prepare proposal submittal documents.


Essential Qualifications:

  • One (1) years of estimating experience with Petrochemical and Refining projects
  • Strong knowledge of foundations/concrete/forms Structural (pipe rack and main framework) Piping Fixed and rotating equipment setting and assembly
  • Ability to interact with customers vendors and inter-company personnel on a professional level
  • Understanding of contractual language
  • Ability and knowledge to review completed bids for accuracy in pricing resources equipment subcontractors safety considerations schedule quality and profits on a competitive basis
  • Ability to estimate material and labor quantities from industrial construction drawings for multiple craft disciplines
  • Must be proficient in computer-based MS programs (Word Excel PowerPoint etc.)
  • Preferred experience in planning software applications. (Turner Applications WinTake QuickPlan and Win PCS is an additional benefit)
  • Strong commitment to safety and environmental excellence
  • Work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment within the organization
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to read and write proficiently in the English language
  • Must possess excellent communication interpersonal organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to travel for bid meetings and site visits (normally 1 to 2 days)
  • Ability to cope with Pressure & Setbacks - Work productively in a pressurized environment; Keeps emotions under control during difficult situations
  • Formally accept company drug alcohol and physical evaluation screens. Signed acceptance of Turner Industries Ltd. Drug Alcohol and Contraband Policy
  • Formally accept Company EEO and Workplace Harassment and Discrimination policies
  • Successfully complete a Planner Skills Assessment Test
  • Must have or meet the requirements to receive a TWIC card
  • Knowledgeable in Excel Google and Microsoft
  • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
  • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others at the workplace

Functional Requirements:

Review specifications drawings etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate. Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work material outside services and sub-contractors. Review and incorporate historical data into a number of resources and man-hours estimates. Estimate extras change orders and discovery work items. Maintain files of working documents and backup estimate figures. Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications to include Civil Structural Piping and Process Equipment setting and assembly. Perform detail take-offs for work hours and crew loading on the project scope. Competently performs all aspects of developing a preliminary or definitive estimate for any size project utilizing company owned software/spreadsheets. Create proposal documents which are accurate and include all deliverables requested by the client. Revises estimates when scope of project changes or other new information becomes available. Participate in financial and pricing reviews with executive leadership. Attend bid meetings and site visits. Develop a work scope deliverables responsibility matrix terms/conditions etc. Send pertinent information to appropriate divisional manager(s) Contracts Safety QC and Commercial department. Preform material take-offs for repair or replace-in-kind work. Determine resource and skill requirements for scope of work. Determine options for scope of work and present scenarios of compatible work packages or combinations of similar scope to the client. Document change orders request for deviations on drawings changes in the field conditions or engineering busts. Preform job-walks and collaboratively with respective discipline Subject Matter Experts to develop job steps (activities) craft breakdown and man-hours required. Monitor and document progress of the scope work within the clients ERP system and/or Turner applications. Prepare subcontractor work packages for the bid process and work execution.


Compensation

Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
