ABOUT THE ROLE
- Job Title: Content Producer - Comics (Heritage Brands)
- Reports to: Heritage Brands Content Editor
- Location: Dundee (Meadowside) Scotland United Kingdom
- Ways of Working: Hybrid (This role is predominantly home-based. Your contractual office will be the DC Thomson Meadowside Office. Occasional office attendance may be required for team gatherings collaboration activities key meetings and company events.)
- Contract Type: Full-time Fixed-Term Contract (Maternity Cover)
- Contract Duration: Fixed-term maternity cover until 10th August 2026 (subject to change in line with business needs and statutory requirements)
How youll play a part:
DC Thomsons Heritage Brands team is looking to recruit a talented Content Producer. Reporting to the Heritage Brands Content Editor you will aid the team with the creation of Commando The Broons & Oor Wullie and classic archive projects involving some of DC Thomsons most beloved brands.
What youll deliver:
In this role you will be expected to write interesting and excellent copy as well as generate innovative ideas and fantastic content relevant to the Heritage Brands titles. You will read and edit new script submissions sub-edit scripts ensuring they are prepared for artists create clear write-ups for the design team and create cover briefs for artists which are informative and allow for eye-catching and appropriate art. In addition you will be required to proof pages to a continuously high standard with meticulous attention to detail and meeting all style guide expectations. You should also have a great eye for comic art.
Working closely with the rest of the Heritage Brands team you will help develop creative ideas for brand expansion and help with web management and running social media channels. Our ideal candidate will have fantastic communication skills and the ability to establish good relationships with other departments and freelancers.
It is expected that the successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent with experience working within comics or magazine publishing desirable.

Requirements
What youll bring:
Essential:
- The successful candidate is expected to be able to work to a high standard skilled in proofreading copywriting and editing
- Have a great understanding of comics particularly in relation to the Heritage Brand titles and/or adventure comics with a keen eye for comic art detail
- Have excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- Have the ability to create innovative ideas for potential brand expansion and confidence in working with social media outlets
- Be educated to degree level or equivalent
Desirable:
- Have experience working within a publishing company ideally with experience in comics
- Have a clear understanding of the Heritage Brand titles and their audience

This is a full-time temporary position (fixed-term maternity cover) working 35 hours per week. The duration of the contract will depend on the return date of the current postholder who is on maternity leave. We offer a blend of home and office working.
