The Cognitive/Memory Disorders Section in the Department of Neurology at UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated academic Behavioral Neurology Physician Scientist to join our interdisciplinary team. This faculty position combines clinical expertise in cognitive and behavioral neurology with a robust research program aimed at understanding and treating disorders such as Alzheimers disease frontotemporal dementia Lewy Body dementia and related cognitive syndromes. The successful candidate will divide their time between patient care and scientific investigatino with strong institutional support for research infrastructure grant development and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
provide expert diagnosis and care for patients with cognitive behavioral and neurodegenerative disorders.
Supervise and teach neurology residents and medical students. Participate in memory and cognitive disorder clinics and case conferences
Research Duties:
Lead or contribute to a productive and externally funded research program in behavioral or cognitive neurology
Design and conduct translational clinical or basic neuroscience studies related to cognitive disorders
Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific meetings
Pursue independent research funding from agencies such as the NIH or private foundations
Teaching and Mentorship:
Mentor residents fellows graudate students or postdoctoral researchers
Contribute to academic programs and didactic teaching in neurology and neuroscience
MD or MD/PhD
Board certified/board eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology for adult or child neurology
Completed fellowship training in Behavioral Neurology Cognitive Neurology or Neurodegenerative Disorders
Demonstrated research productivity in relevant ADRD areas
Eligibility for medical licensure in Texas
Track record or strong potential for securing independent research funding
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in interdisciplinary or translational research environments especially ADRC or other AD research center programs
Active or pending research grants (e.g. NIH K or R series)
Expertise in biomarkers neuroimaging digital cognitive assessments or other areas of ADRD research
This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215 which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information. To the extent this position requires the holder to research work on or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishment and experience. Consideration may be given to applicants seeking less than a full-time schedule.
