JOB SUMMARY:
As a Janos Opto-mechanical Engineer you will specialize in creating optical assemblies for infrared imaging. Your work will contribute to advancing infrared imaging technology impacting both military and commercial sectors. We are looking for someone with a strong passion for mechanical design and solving unique and challenging problems. The candidate must be a self-starter and have the ability to lead projects.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create and properly document models and drawings of all components and assemblies.
- Design opto-mechanical mechanisms and components.
- Ensure that designs are manufactured according to specifications.
- Assist in designing any tooling required to facilitate manufacture assembly and validation of all critical dimensions and processes.
- Implement engineering change orders
- Work with assemblers and technicians to perform manufacturing and testing of optical components and assemblies.
- Apply system light-weighting techniques materials and trade-off analyses.
- Incorporate customer input and requirements into the design process to ensure compatibility of the finished assembly with the overall customer system.
- Support all non-conformance activities supplying the proper data to engineers revising drawings and directing the disposition of parts when appropriate.
- Assist with product qualifications and environmental testing requirements.
- Engage with Fortive Business Systems (FBS): Use FBS tools to drive growth such as Problem-solving events DEMFA and Kaizen
Basic Qualifications:
- Must be a US Person as defined by 22 CFR 120.15.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering.
- Ability to create detailed drawings with appropriate tolerancing to assure form fit and function.
- Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills needed for customer interaction.
- Possess sound engineering and problem-solving skills; use of DFMEA and DOE will be required.
- Experience with SolidWorks and associated CAD system tools.
- Ability to code in C# or other languages is a plus.
- Proficient in MS Office applications including Word Excel and PowerPoint.
- Enjoys hands-on work; it is routine to participate in building and testing your designs.
