Summary of Job Duties:

The Fiber Broadband Technology Instructor is responsible for delivering comprehensive training on fiber optic network installation maintenance and troubleshooting. Key duties include developing and presenting curriculum covering topics such as fiber optic theory cable types splicing techniques testing methods and network architecture. The instructor prepares students for industry-standard certifications ensuring course content aligns with current licensure requirements. They maintain a safe learning environment by enforcing proper safety protocols particularly when handling fiber optic equipment and tools. The role involves managing and distributing training equipment including fusion splicers optical time-domain reflectometers (OTDRs) and various fiber optic cables. Additionally the instructor assesses students skill levels through practical exercises and written examinations adapting teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and experience levels. Strong communication skills industry experience and the ability to stay current with evolving fiber optic technologies are essential for success in this position.


Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in fiber optic technology and network installation. Recommended current industry-recognized certifications such as Fiber Optics Installer (FOI) Certified Fiber Optics Technician (CFOT) or equivalent. Proficiency in using and demonstrating fiber optic equipment including fusion splicers OTDRs power meters and various testing tools. Must have in-depth understanding of fiber optic principles network architectures industry standards and safety protocols.
