The salary range for this position is $102060 to 113443 depending on the successful candidates years of teaching experience at the college level. Purpose:
The Department of Environmental Studies and Sciences at Santa Clara University a Jesuit Catholic university seeks applicants for a full-time tenure-track position in Environmental Biology to begin Fall 2026. We especially welcome applications from candidates in the subdisciplines of conservation biology wildlife biology marine biology landscape ecology agroecology or ecotoxicology. The successful candidate will conduct applied research that can be supported by external funding and provide opportunities for involvement by undergraduates. SCU is on the quarter system and tenure-stream faculty are expected to teach the equivalent of six courses per year (two lecture courses or a single lab course each quarter) while actively engaged in scholarship. Teaching expectations include a lower-division lab course in Environmental Biology (ENVS 21) an upper-division skills course focused on GIS applied statistics or research methods; and at least one other upper-division lab or field course in the candidates area of specialty. Post-doctoral research and/or previous undergraduate teaching experience are highly valued as is community-engaged scholarship. The successful candidate will start on September 1 2026.

The Department of Environmental Studies and Sciences places a strong emphasis on the involvement of undergraduate students in the research programs of its faculty. SCU offers significant support to early career faculty in the development of their research agendas. All new faculty will be assigned mentors placed into a cohort learning community with other new faculty and offered faculty retreats workshops and numerous professional development opportunities to build their research program.
Required Qualifications:
1) Terminal degree (Ph.D.) or ABD by appointment start date in environmental biology or a related field.
2) Demonstrated potential for effective and inclusive teaching and/or research mentoring of a diverse undergraduate student population.
Responsibilities: Tenure-track faculty at SCU are teaching scholars who are expected to balance teaching research/creative work and service. This is an in-person position. More specifically duties include but are not limited to the following:
