About the Role

This is a Permanent Part- time role

This great opportunity is available at our Aegis Karalee facility - 4 days per week (30 hours)

Successful candidate has the opportunity to become a Full Time employee at Aegis.

The role offers an opportunity to provide high-quality evidence-based Occupational Therapy services founded on our philosophy of resident-centred wholistic care. In your day-to-day role you will be responsible for assessing the physical and psycho-social functioning of residents informing their occupational performance capacity in all aspects of Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). You will work alongside residents and those that are important to them to identify their occupational goals needs and preferences to inform resident-led goal-directed care planning within a multiskilled environment that is focused on the occupational strengths and reablement of our residents.

Occupational Therapists understand the importance of occupational roles routines and structure. Using activity analysis and in consultation with the wider multidisciplinary team you will plan implement and deliver wholistic and dynamic therapy and lifestyle programs that promote residents sense of self autonomy well-being and overall quality of life by enabling their participation in meaningful and purposeful activity.

As an Occupational Therapist within Aegis no day will look the same! You will benefit from a diverse caseload that allows you to apply a broad range of your core skills including but not limited to:

  1. Seating and postural management
  2. Pressure management
  3. Fine and gross motor function
  4. Dementia care
  5. Cultural diversity
  6. Equipment provision
  7. Environmental redesign
  8. Health promotion
  9. Advocate for residents through supporting choice and mitigating risk processes
  10. Leadership
  11. Training and education
  12. Quality Monitoring practices and Continuous improvement.

To excel at this role you will be supported by a team of Senior Clinicians with the opportunity to participate in peer support activities ensuring opportunities for personal and professional growth.

About the Location

Overlooking picturesque Smythe Lake Aegis Karalee includes a host of amenities including lounge areas where residents and guests can mingle in a relaxed and social wordKaraleeis an Aboriginal word meaning waterhole near grass which was sourced from the National Library of Australia. The highest standard of care therapy and allied health services are provided with particular attention to the individual needs of the resident and their family. The wings all have dining areas and access to well-maintained gardens and patio areas which gives a homely feel. This location ensures that a large variety of shopping and service options including restaurants and shopping. Many day trip venues are located close-by providing a wonderful variety of choice for that special outing.

Essential Requirements

  1. Occupational Therapy qualification and AHPRA registration.
