ACCEPT Education Collaborative is a regional non-profit educational organization located in Medway and Natick MA. ACCEPT provides a wide range of programs and services including special education for students with moderate to severe needs specialized transportation home-based services behavioral and educational consultation and professional development. ACCEPT offers a continuum of programs and services Prek-12 and to age 22 for both students in life skills and Therapeutic programs. Our programs address autism spectrum disorders emotional/behavioral needs global impairments cognitive/intellectual disabilities language disorders ADHD/ADD and nonverbal learning MISSION:To use the collective power of member school districts to provide programs and services that maximize the potential of students their families educators and anticipate and respond to evolving educational needs with innovative forward-thinking high-quality best-in-class programs and complement and extend in-district options by leveraging our expertise utilizing economies of scale and building strength through Summary:Provides individual and group counseling services to help ACCEPT programs build capacity to serve students with low incidence disabilities. Provides direct services to an assigned caseload of students consults with classroom staff to promote the generalization of skills across environments and conducts evaluations as Required:Masters Degree requiredLicensed social worker counselor or clinical psychologistDESE license (strongly preferred)3 5 years experience as a clinicianStrong organizational communication and management skillsExcellent oral and written communication skillsQualifications Desired:DESE LicenseExperience working in a school or pediatric settingEssential Responsibilities:Conduct evaluationsProvide counseling services to students as indicated on their IEPProvide consultation to students TeamsWork closely with the Assistant Director of Special Education to meet the social and emotional needs of students across the initial interviews data collection and regular testing with children and Agency Confidentiality FERPA regulations and Professional Code of Ethics policies are followed;Exhibits and articulates knowledge of ACCEPTs program models and goals and mission of the agency;Teach and implement behavior management techniques including counseling crisis intervention and only as a last resort physical intervention;Possess strong interpersonal skills and form amicable working relationships with: students families teachers supervisors collaterals and state agency representatives;Establish and implement effective IEP goals; knowledge of behavioral disorders of client population and methods of intervention;Establish therapeutic relationships with multicultural students and their families;Communication and presentation skills: oral and written; direct contact and telephone;Attends and participates in program staff meetings and group supervision;Prepares and maintains clinical case notes and other required documentation according to guidelines;Work effectively to establish him/herself as a resource to the entire program;Regular consistent attendanceNon-Essential Responsibilities:Other related duties as assignedSuccess Factors/Job Competencies:Compassion and desire to work with children with special needsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsPositive and proactive attitudeGreat attention to detail and accuracyCommitment to company mission and valuesStrong team playerPhysical Demands and Work Environment:Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to move about and may be required to traverse occasionally throughout the school building. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and sit stoop kneel crouch or crawl and perform physical restraint of a student at times of behavioral escalation. The employee is expected to lift at least 20 lbs (i.e. books school supplies etc.). The employee must frequently use hands to finger handle or feel; and use hand strength to grasp tools. Occasionally s/he operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e. a calculator copy machine and computer printer). The employee must be able to input information into a computer and as well as read material from a computer monitor as well as handwritten or printed matter with or without visual aids. The employee must be able to physically use musical instruments. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students parents and other staff members in person and on the telephone. In the classroom the employee must be able to see and hear on a continuous basis in order to ensure the safety of students as well as speak frequently to provide instruction. On rare occasions it may be necessary to move quickly/run across even or uneven surfaces. The employee interacts with students parents and other staff members.
