A rigger is a skilled tradesperson who specializes insetting up maintaining and operating rigging equipment to lift and move heavy objects often in construction manufacturing or maritime industries.They are responsible for the safe and efficient movement of loads using tools like ropes pulleys cranes and winches.Riggers ensure the stability and security of loads and communicate with other team members like crane operators to coordinate movements.
Key Responsibilities of a Rigger:
- Setting up and inspecting rigging:This includes assembling aligning and securing rigging equipment like cables pulleys and hoists.
- Assessing and preparing loads:Riggers evaluate the weight and stability of loads and choose appropriate rigging gear.
- Operating rigging equipment:They control the movement of heavy equipment and materials often using cranes hoists and other machinery.
- Ensuring safety:Riggers play a crucial role in maintaining a safe work environment by following safety procedures inspecting equipment and communicating effectively with other team members.
