Job Title: Electronics Technician

Reports To: Supervisor of Maintenance Service Center
Work Schedule/FLSA Status: 261 Duty Days / Non-Exempt
Salary Schedule: This is a full-time negotiated position. Salary grade 87D based on Negotiated Agreement
Position Purpose: This individual will repair maintain & install mechanical/electrical sub-systems of a broad array of security audio-visual and communications equipment and safety systems.
Essential Performance Responsibilities:
- Diagnose network systems including IP networking VLANS and DHCP reservations.
- Diagnose repair adjust and install Intrusion Security Camera & Card Access systems.
- Preparing and managing of electronic security budget which is used for the upkeep and installation of new security equipment throughout the District.
- Changing and adding staff security codes as requested from Building Administration in addition to constant code transfers due to movement of staff.
- Entering various card access door schedules as prompted by Building Administrators or designees to ensure access for various events.
- At times may be required to work outside of normal business hours and work extended hours to accomplish requirements of the position.
- Respond to emergency situations during or after hours for the purposes of resolving immediate safety/ security concerns.
- Inspect fire alarm panels and detectors to maintain compliance with state fire inspection criteria.
- Perform trade-related tasks as assigned by the foreman or Maintenance Supervisor.
- Perform job duties independently and efficiently exhibiting reliable judgment setting appropriate priorities and timelines and solving problems in support of successful and timely completion of responsibilities.
- Record information about parts materials and repair procedures.
- Maintain records to support the financial accountability of this program.
- Communicate courteously and effectively with the public and school district staff.
- Maintain satisfactory attendance and productivity.
Additional Duties: Performs other related tasks as assigned by manager foreman and/or administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
Equipment: Must always comply with OPSs guidelines for equipment use.
Travel: Local travel will be required.
Physical and Mental Demands Work Hazards:
- Must be able to respond rapidly in emergency situations.
- Must have organization time management communication and interpersonal skills.
- Work in an office environment school buildings and warehouse setting.
- Physical ability to climb kneel stoop walk and engage in heavy physical activities including exerting force equal to lifting seventy (75) pounds in performance of job related tasks.
- Ability to climb ladders with tools and equipment weighing up to 30 pounds and heights of up to fifty (50) feet.
- Physical strength flexibility coordination dexterity and endurance.
- Ability to work in physically constricted areas.
- Individual must pass a pre-employment assessment of abilities to meet these physical requirements to be arranged by the school district.
Interrelations:
- Contact with OPS personnel and with vendors general public and will be working in and around students.
- Will be working under the direct supervision of the department supervisor in order to complete day to day tasks.
- Will be working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy.
- Must understand and respond appropriately to customer needs and maintain a positive attitude with all customers and colleagues.
- Expected to interact with all internal and external customers in a friendly professional manner and provide quick responsive customer service.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- High school diploma or Associate degree in Electronics preferred.
- Minimum of five years of full-time experience with Security Camera & Access Controls systems.
- Knowledge and experience working with Genetec DMP Mercury and Hid Axis hardware preferred.
- Demonstrate knowledge and use of personal computer Microsoft Office 365 software with TMA work order system.
- Must have a valid drivers license and safe driving record.
- Possess strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
- Possess strong organizational and time management skills.
- Skills pertinent to positive human relationships with the ability to communicate and work effectively with staff members and community in a multicultural setting.
- Holder of a State of Nebraska Drivers license in good standing.
- Above average attendance and work performance.
- Will maintain strict confidentiality of information and records.
- Ability to meet Districts insurability requirements.

Terms of Employment:
This position is treated as a full-time non-exempt classified position. The terms of your employment will be governed by applicable state laws regulating employment in a Nebraska public school and Board of Education policies as those laws and policies may change from time to time. If your position is represented by a collective bargaining representative then your employment will also be governed by a negotiated agreement between OPS and that collective bargaining representative.
