Lab Engineer - Environmental Test, Project Kuiper

Project Kuiper is Amazons low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast reliable internet to customers and communities around the world and weve designed the system with the capacity flexibility and performance to serve a wide range of customers from individualhouseholds to schools hospitals businesses government agencies and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

This role is responsible for keeping aerospace environmental test production running smoothly. You will troubleshoot issues that technicians encounter during daily testing resolving problems with test setup equipment and IT infrastructure. With your expertise in environmental testing procedures equipment and basic Python scripting you will identify root causes and implement corrective actions to maximize productivity and product quality.

Key job responsibilities
- This position will work a standard 5x8 schedule Monday-Friday
- Serve as a point of support for test equipment and processes and unblock issues arising during test operations
- Troubleshoot and identify ultimate root cause of issues in test processes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Partner with IT Infrastructure professionals to resolve networking/communication issues with test equipment
- Establish and increase the efficiency of environmental test processes to maximize output and enable products to rapidly transition from engineering development to rate production
- Identify improvement opportunities and execute initiatives to maintain safe operations ensure product quality reduce lead time and increase productivity
- Establish production processes for 5S FOD control tool management calibration procedures and visual management of production tooling and equipment
- Enable production test autonomy by challenging requirements simplifying work procedures and automating actions

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.


- 3 years in a Space/Aerospace/Military/Automotive hardware testing environment
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering or equivalent
- 1 years hands-on environmental test experience vibration shock acoustic in compliance with MIL-STD-810 SMC-S-016 or MIL-STD-1540.
- 1 years of project management of technical projects
- 1 years working with Data Acquisition systems
- Familiar with installing test instrumentation

- 7 years in a Space/Aerospace/Military/Automotive hardware testing environment
- Basic automation experiences (python or similar) for troubleshooting automated test scripts
- Environmental test equipment operation experience
- Understanding of data acquisition systems and instrumentation selection
- Experience developing processes and tooling
- Experience running force limited vibration testing.
- Experience developing hardware testing procedures.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills with ability to effectively communicate with multiple teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask comfortable with changing work environments and priorities.
- Experience commissioning and troubleshooting test equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to scale production rate capability.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $189900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
