Job Description

At Lynas Rare Earths - we do interesting stuff!

Our Rare Earths mine at Mt Weld Western Australia is acknowledged as one of the highest-grade Rare Earths deposits in the world and we operate the worlds largest single Rare Earths processing plant in Malaysia so youre joining a very unique team! As a team member you will be contributing to the sustainable supply of rare earths metals which are used in oil & gas electric vehicles and wind turbines.

An opportunity exists for a Metallurgical Technician to join Lynas Rare Earths. As the Metallurgical Technician you will play a key role in ensuring smooth plant operations by conducting metallurgical and laboratory tasks supporting process teams and contributing to test work and plant improvement initiatives. You will work closely with the Metallurgical Superintendent using your technical skills to monitor performance and ensure data accuracy. This is a FIFO position from Perth to our Mt Weld Operations on an 8/6 roster.

As a highly valued member of the Lynas Rare Earths team you will:

  • Provide day-to-day metallurgical support to operational teams
  • Conduct regular performance checks and report deviations
  • Execute test work programs and assist in routine plant balances
  • Support optimisation and development through lab and field testing
  • Compile and communicate test work findings effectively

What you will bring to the team:

  • Previous experience in a metallurgical processing or laboratory environment
  • Familiarity with XRF operation and flotation concentrators
  • Exposure to water treatment plant operation (desirable)
  • Strong analytical organisational and communication skills
  • A team player with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and disciplined with a structured approach to work

Qualifications:

  • Certificate in Analytical Laboratory Techniques (desirable)
  • Valid WA C Class Manual Drivers Licence (required)
