General Description:
Flexsys has an immediate opening for a Laboratory Analyst in the Akron Rubber Laboratory. The rubber laboratory functions as both a research lab and quality control lab for Flexsys products developed and used in the rubber industry. The Laboratory Analyst is located in Akron but is a part of the global tire additives team providing support to production facilities in the Americas Europe and Asia/Pacific regions.
The laboratory collaborates closely with the tire additives research and development teams to provide research support in new product development and quality assurance of our products. The Laboratory Analyst position promotes continuous on-the-job learning and provides an environment focused on working in a highly integrated team setting. Performing routine sample analysis including but not limited to:
o Accurate and precise weighing of chemicals.
o Ability to follow sample preparation in accordance with customer requests.
o Operating internal mixers and two-roll mills.
o Perform physical mechanical and rheological laboratory testing using automated and manual laboratory instrumentation.
o Work safely around chemicals and machinery.
o Follow Standard Operating Procedures.
o Maintain a clean work area.
o Assist in preventative maintenance of equipment.
o Using a Laboratory Information System to report results.
o Supporting all initiatives to improve the laboratory.
o Minimal Education level High School Graduate or equivalent.
o Ability to function in a high-paced quality-focused laboratory environment.
o Ability to work in high-performing teams both safely and responsibly.
o High sense of urgency and self-starter mentality.
o Strong written and verbal communication skills.
o Ability to quickly adapt to a dynamic environment.
o Ability to focus on multiple projects at a time.
o Ability to lift to 50 pounds.
An ideal candidate would possess the following:
o Previous laboratory experience and/or industrial experience.
o Hands on rubber mixing and milling would be ideal but not required.
o Familiar with ASTM testing.
o Experience with internal mixers.
o Mechanical Aptitude.
o Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
