Job Title: IMS Database Developer Credit Card Technology
Location: Wilmington DE / Jersey City NJ (Hybrid/On-site)
Division: Consumer & Community Banking Credit Card Technology
This individual will be responsible for the design development and optimization of IMS (Information Management System) databases supporting mission-critical credit card systems. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in IMS DB/DC COBOL JCL and mainframe integration with a strong focus on performance reliability and scalability.
Responsibilities:
- Design develop and maintain IMS DB/DC database systems supporting JPMorgan Chases credit card platforms.
- Write and optimize complex COBOL/IMS programs to ensure high performance and data integrity.
- Collaborate with application developers business analysts and system engineers to integrate database components into broader solutions.
- Develop database utilities tools and procedures to automate routine tasks and improve database performance.
- Perform data modeling physical database design and normalization for large-scale credit card transaction systems.
- Ensure adherence to data security and regulatory compliance requirements (e.g. PCI DSS).
- Monitor and tune database performance; resolve issues in a high-availability high-volume environment.
- Support mainframe modernization and integration initiatives involving IMS and distributed technologies.
- Participate in on-call support rotation and provide production support for database-related incidents.
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years of hands-on experience with IMS DB/DC COBOL and JCL on IBM mainframe systems.
- Strong experience in credit card processing systems payments or financial services is highly preferred.
- Deep knowledge of VSAM DB2 MVS and integration with batch and online transaction processing systems.
- Solid understanding of data modeling database design principles and performance tuning.
- Proficient in working with ChangeMan Endevor or other mainframe source control systems.
- Experience with incident management root cause analysis and production support in regulated environments.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and CI/CD pipelines for mainframe environments.
- Familiarity with Java MQ or APIs for integrating mainframe with distributed systems.
- Experience with DevOps for mainframe automated testing tools and job scheduling tools like CA7 or Control-M.
- Exposure to cloud migration strategies for legacy systems is a plus.
