We are currently supporting a prominent client in the heavy industry sector in their search for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor. This role is crucial in managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects from initial feasibility to completion. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring projects are completed within budget and to the highest standards.
As a Quantity Surveyor for our client your key responsibilities will include:
Cost Management & Analysis:
Conduct comprehensive cost analysis during the project feasibility stage encompassing tender preparation through to construction.
Accurately calculate and verify project engineering materials quantities durations and assess project changes and additional quotations.
Perform cash flow analysis and implement robust project cost control measures including the valuation of various work items throughout the project lifecycle.
Conduct statistical audits of monthly project output verifying actual costs and auditing labour and material expenses to provide timely warnings for any deviations.
Tender & Procurement:
Identify necessary materials and prepare comprehensive tender documents.
Oversee project progress and material usage submitting regular inspection reports to monitor construction progress.
Ensure that all prices quoted in tenders are accurate competitive and appropriate.
Perform preliminary cost estimations for projects and prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQ) including calculating all involved project quantities.
Collect organize and verify current market prices for various materials labour equipment and other relevant project factors specific to the respective areas.
Actively participate in procurement negotiations for major project materials providing a reasonable and data-driven pricing basis for project procurement.
Project Support & Coordination:
Provide reliable data essential for effective project management engineering estimation and progress claims.
Coordinate closely with the project team in administering contractual claims such as variation orders extension of time requests and loss and expense claims.
Site & Travel:
Be willing to travel or work on-site as and when required by project demands.
Education: Bachelor s Degree in Quantity Surveying Contract Management Construction Management or an equivalent qualification.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of proven working experience in a related field preferably within the construction or steel industry.
Professional Affiliation: Registered member of the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) and the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM).
Languages: Proficient in Bahasa Malaysia and English (both oral and written) to liaise with associates effectively. Fluency in Mandarin is an added advantage.
Organizational Skills: Strong ability in organizing managing and prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously.
Communication: Excellent communication skills both oral and written with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially PowerPoint and Excel).
