Position Summary
The In-School Literacy Program Coordinator serves as the lead staff member responsible for implementing Save the Childrens daily reading intervention and support program inside a designated elementary school. This full-time school-based position runs for the full academic year and includes responsibilities during both the regular school day and the after-school program.
Key Responsibilities
Literacy Program Management
- Coordinate and deliver small-group guided reading instruction to K5 students with a primary focus on K2 students.
- Lead data-informed instruction aligned with student testing and literacy benchmarks.
- Plan organize and implement the literacy program in collaboration with school leadership.
- Administer reading assessments collect and analyze literacy data and group students based on needs.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Maintain accurate records of student participation and progress.
- Submit instructional schedules and changes to the school principal for approval.
- Support classroom teachers in identifying students who need targeted reading support.
- May assist with morning or after-school duties assigned by the principal if within contracted hours.
- Participate in school-day testing as a monitor while continuing to serve K2 students when not testing.
After-School Program Oversight
- Lead all aspects of the Save the Children After-School Program including preparation supervision and cleanup.
- Ensure safety engagement and enrichment for students during after-school hours.
- Serve as the primary contact for the after-school component and ensure alignment with program goals.
Schedule Expectations
- August 4 August 15: Classroom and instructional setup testing data review and parent communication.
- August 18 April 28: Literacy instruction through small-group sessions MondayFriday.
- April 29 May 1: End-of-program student assessments and data collection.
- May 4 May 22: Support for state testing grades 35 while intensifying focus on K2 support.
- May 26 May 29: Host end-of-year celebrations finalize paperwork and data and clean classroom for summer.
Qualifications
- Associate or bachelors degree in Education Literacy or a related field preferred.
- Prior experience working with elementary-aged children in a literacy-focused or tutoring role preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to independently manage daily programming.
- Ability to follow a structured program model and implement data-driven instruction.
- Must be available to work the full contract period and daily hours as outlined.
