Health Liaison for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Patients. The Program aims to support IBD patients who are new to navigating the healthcare system. This program pairs undergraduates medical students pharmacy or social work students who have a strong interest in the medical field and some experience with inflammatory bowel disease with newly diagnosed IBD patients. The goal is to provide guidance support and education on managing appointments procedures infusions and other aspects of their healthcare journey..
Key Responsibilities:
Mentorship: Pair with newly diagnosed IBD patients to offer personalized guidance and support.
Education: Provide information on navigating medical appointments understanding procedures and managing infusion schedules.
Advocacy: Assist patients in communicating effectively with healthcare providers and understanding their treatment options.
Resource Sharing: Share educational materials resources and personal experiences to help patients feel more confident in managing their condition.
Emotional Support: Offer empathetic listening and encouragement to help patients cope with the emotional aspects of living with IBD.
Networking: Facilitate connections between patients and relevant support groups or community resources.
Technical Capabilities:
