Job Description:

The Business Information Management Analyst provides business analytics support across a broad range of information management. Works in collaboration with a senior lead and may manage and direct activities related to analysis design and support of business data management solutions for numerous business data capabilities. This position will support the US DMO (Data Management Office) in providing insights on the execution of the Data Concern Management process as well as other Data Capabilities across numerous Business Segments and Corporate Functions:

  • Assist in developing self-servicing dashboarding allowing for businesses stakeholders
  • Support the development of presentations/communications of data concern management and capability results
  • Understand department objectives and contribute by supporting data management activities
  • Support data related activities and analysis
  • Use good judgement and critical thinking to make decisions that advance the work
  • Become a Subject Matter Expert with respect Data Concern Management
  • Deliver on commitments based on timelines
  • Communicate the leadership of issues availability and task completion
  • Collaborate effectively with others to establish and execute on common goals

Depth & Scope:

  • Experienced working professional role providing specialized business support within their own area of specialty
  • Requires experienced conceptual and practical knowledge within their own specialty
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills and fluent in at least one programming language
  • Leads projects or work streams within broader projects with moderate risk and may be accountable for managing ongoing activities processes and functional programs
  • Accountable for own work and sometimes others; acts as an escalation point or knowledge resource for others in their own area
  • Experienced working with very large datasets and familiarity with big data technologies
  • Able to work with minimal direction on multiple projects and priorities
  • Keeps abreast of rapid business and technology innovation within business information management field
  • Familiar with visualization tools
  • Analyzes designs develops data repositories warehouses and marts data movement data wrangling data mapping and transformation (ETL) processes
  • Supports solutions applications platforms and/or tools that are leveraged across all functional groups (e.g. Data Scientists Business Insights & Analytics etc.)
  • May also be responsible for developing sophisticated data preparation frameworks and architecture to create or modify data features for consumption by Data Scientists
  • Supports data modeling capabilities in order to structure business data to be consumed / translated into a variety of novel capacities
  • Supports business teams in the use and understanding of the data and reporting solutions
  • Develops data road map/information management strategies and corresponding technical solutions on integrating transforming and/or managing data
  • Drives data-centric solution development focusing on complex data integration
  • Adopts the Enterprise Data model in alignment with direction from the OCDO and other data & analytics functional groups
  • Solicits analyzes and understands data requirements (i.e. using market research requirements gathering feature planning user experience / design considerations etc.) to enable development of information management solutions

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate
  • 3 years of relevant experience from a business administration statistical mathematical scientific or financial background
  • Solid knowledge of various data sources tools and technologies used in preparing summaries and reports
  • Analytical and problem solving skills are required to interpret data and draw conclusions
  • Knowledge of current and emerging competitor and market trends
  • Skill in using analytical software tools data analysis methods and reporting techniques
  • Skill in using computer applications including MS Office
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships
  • Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in making decisions
  • Ability to analyze organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidates with 0-1 years of relevant data experience
  • Communicate effectively with team leadership to leverage data to address concerns and provide insights
  • Self-motivated and driven forward thinking individual with ability to perform a task with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • MS Office Suite Skills (including Excel/PowerPoint)
  • Data Visualization/Dashboard Development Skills (Tableau/PowerBI) preferred
  • Experience within the Banking/Financial Services Industry is a plus
  • Experience with Data Management is a plus
  • Ability to read SQL/Python or other programming languages is a plus

Customer Accountabilities:

  • Provides a range of data analysis and assess business information management related data requirements for specific data platforms applications systems servers aligned to business needs
  • Develops and maintain knowledge of data available from upstream sources and data within relevant platform / applications including through the means of data profiling and data quality (e.g. rules / thresholds / assessments etc.) reporting tools and via the capture of business metadata
  • Collaborates with business and technology partners to elicit information / data requirements and articulate requirements
  • Contributes to data deliverables including contribution to the overall project business requirements and data requirements documents
  • Provides support to resolve data and application issues
  • Supports the user community by helping users interpret the data
  • Partners with internal team and business partners to resolve issues and ensure requirements and established SLAs

Shareholder Accountabilities:

  • Supports / develops and maintain data models using industry standard modeling tools
  • Assess business requirements by researching / analyzing and documenting business data requirements
  • Defines builds and manages data dictionary / catalog for respective data platforms systems / servers / applications
  • Ensures metadata and data lineage is captured and compatible with enterprise metadata and data management tools and processes
  • Runs quality assurance reports and resolves data integrity issues to ensure accurate reporting and data records
  • Gathers reviews analyzes profiles validates and maps system data into the data warehouse to meet reporting and analytical business needs
  • Develops solutions and recommendations for improving data quality and data integrity issues analyze data issues and works with development teams for problem resolutions
  • Understands data initiatives and capabilities data governance principles and how they apply to the business segment
  • Ensures business data is maintained in compliance with enterprise data standards policies and guidelines
  • Ensures business data and information is retained and disposed in compliance with enterprise data standards policies and guidelines
  • Assists with the testing of the technical information systems in regards to implementation upgrades and/or patches to ensure data integrity and systems functionality
  • Contributes to various data activities and processes as assigned
  • Be knowledgeable of practices and procedures within own area of responsibility and keep abreast of emerging trends for own functional area
  • Protects the interests of the organization identify and manage risks and escalate non-standard high risk activities as necessary
  • Participates in and help implement continuous process / improvements where opportunities exists
  • Identifies recommends and effectively executes standard practices applicable to the discipline
  • Adheres to internal policies/procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines
  • Keeps abreast of emerging issues trends and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts
