Job Summary

The Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Speech Language and Swallowing Disorders is seeking a full-time SLP for our adult inpatient team.

We are seeking candidates with a strong interest and comfort in a reflective medical SLP practice and a desire to grow professionally. We emphasize holistic patient care teamwork interdisciplinary collaboration and patient advocacy. We are looking for a speech pathologist who demonstrates curiosity develops partnerships with patients and families and displays flexibility.

The successful candidate will work on a team with 16 inpatient SLPs and will provide swallowing speech-language and communication interventions to hospitalized adults with complex medical neurologic oncologic and surgical disorders in the acute care setting.

Qualifications

Education
Masters Degree Speech Therapy required

Licenses and Credentials





Masters degree in Speech-language pathology/Communication disorders

MA State license or eligibility for

Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology CCC-SLP - American Speech Language Hearing Association

BLS Certification

Experience
speech pathology experience 1-2 years preferred; acute hospital experience 1-2 years preferred

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

- Availability to work 4 x 10-hour days with weekend rotations.

- Maintain variable work schedule depending on hospital/program needs to provide patient care.
- Familiarity of diagnostic assessments for speech language.
- Employee must have strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to incorporate new clinical procedures sufficiently to perform clinical services independently.
- Ability to perform functions associated with contemporary audiology and speech-language pathology scope of practice.
- Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
- Knowledge of state standards federal and state regulations.
