Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) protects the public by preparing court-involved youth to be successful citizens. DJJ is committed to excellence in public safety by providing effective interventions that improve the lives of youth strengthening both families and communities within the Commonwealth.

DJJ is currently seeking a CEU Intelligence Analyst Senior. Under the Director/Chief of the Community Engagement Unit (CEU) the Intelligence Analyst Senior is responsible for researching and analyzing criminal intelligence to support gang prevention human trafficking and criminal activities.

Key duties include but are not limited to:

  • Gathering and interpreting data
  • Assisting with intelligence analysis
  • Collaborating with law enforcement
  • Applying for federal and state grants
  • Provides training to DJJ staff and external partners
  • Develops policies for grants and reports on key initiatives.

Additionally the position works with the Deputy Director of Placement and Program Implementation to address service needs supports the Virginia State Fusion Center and helps manage the CEUs budget.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the functions and structures of educational and youth-oriented state and local agencies.
  • Experience writing comprehensive reports.
  • Experience in data analysis or research roles particularly in handling large datasets and using statistical analysis tools.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Knowledge of principles of program planning and development.
  • Professional experience related to criminal investigations youth violence community-based mental health or gang activity.

Additional Considerations

  • Experience analyzing and interpreting laws regulations and policies and procedures.
  • Experience with tracking or monitoring government programs analysis of funded program outcomes or budgets
  • Experience developing or completing grant applications
  • Certification in data analysis statistical methods or relevant software (e.g. Microsoft Excel SQL Tableau or Python).
