Higgins Beach Inn is looking for some fun-loving people to be a part of our team. New members will enjoy a stream-lined hands-on training program while working side-by-side other team members. JOB DESCRIPTION
A restaurant Server at HBI should be friendly courteous and fast. Servers set the dining room welcome diners help them to their seats and make sure they are comfortable. They take and deliver accurate orders suggest dishes answer questions and provide a satisfactory guest experience. Servers must have an in-depth knowledge of the menu and food preparation techniques so great memorization or note taking skills is required. Ability to resolve customer issues promptly and diffuse tense situations to satisfy guests is paramount. Servers keep the dining area neat and pleasant to meet the diners expectations and adhere to health and safety regulations. Excellent customer service and impeccable communication skills are necessary.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must be eligible to work in the United States of America.
Previous food & beverage service work preferred but not required.
Ability to communicate in English both orally and written with guests and employees some of whom will require high levels of patience tact and diplomacy.
Ability to work as a part of a team.
Ability to understand verbal directions as well as written menus recipes labels on foods and chemicals and other workplace safety signage.
Active listening and observation skills.
Knowledge of common food allergies and understanding of cross-contamination issues.
Outgoing personality with good oral comprehension expression and speech clarity.
ABILITIES REQUIRED
May require the ability to work on uneven outdoor surfaces.
Frequent walking bending stooping reaching pushing lifting manual dexterity and repetitive motions.
Occasional stair climbing.
Working in extreme temperatures and conditions both indoors and out.
Schedule varies according to operational needs; may include early mornings evenings weekends holidays and split-shifts.
Frequent handwashing.
