Control & Instrumentation Technician
Altera Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Control & Instrumentation Technician to join a respected engineering services provider working across critical water infrastructure projects. This field-based role will see the successful candidate carrys out installation commissioning maintenance and optimisation of a range of industrial control and automation systems.
Key Responsibilities of a Control & Instrumentation Technician:
- Install configure and commission a wide range of control and instrumentation equipment including VSDs flowmeters level sensors and turbidity analysers.
- Carry out on-site modifications to control panels and starter units ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
- Diagnose troubleshoot and resolve electrical and instrumentation faults to minimise downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
- Complete system testing calibration and documentation in line with project and compliance requirements.
- Promote safe working practices by preparing risk assessments conducting toolbox talks and adhering to industry safety standards and company procedures.
Skills & Qualifications Required:
- Recognised trade qualification such as City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering (or equivalent).
- A minimum of three years hands-on experience maintaining and repairing industrial control systems ideally within the water or utilities sectors.
- Proficient in working with 4-20mA loops variable speed drives (VSDs) and industrial instrumentation.
- Competent in interpreting electrical schematics and P&ID diagrams for fault-finding and installations.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across multiple sites within the region.
