Job Title : Facilities Engineer
Location : Palmdale CA
Contract : 12 Month Contract to hire
Citizenship Requirement: US Citizenship required
Shift : 4/10-1st Shift
Pay : $60.00/hr - $70/hr on W2!
Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and reviewing detailed cost estimates for construction projects ensuring accuracy and completeness of estimates and providing expert advice on cost-related matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction estimating excellent analytical and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Prepare and review detailed cost estimates for construction projects including hard bids negotiated bids and design-build projects
- Analyze and review project plans specifications and contracts to identify potential cost risks and opportunities
- Develop and maintain detailed estimates of construction costs including labor materials equipment and subcontractor costs
- Conduct site visits and meetings with project stakeholders to gather information and validate estimates
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project managers engineers and architects to ensure estimates are accurate and complete
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of construction methods materials and industry trends
- Stay up-to-date with market conditions including material prices labor rates and subcontractor availability
- Provide expert advice and guidance on cost-related matters including value engineering cost savings opportunities and risk management
- Develop and maintain estimating databases spreadsheets and other tools to support the estimating process
- Participate in bid reviews scope reviews and other project meetings to ensure estimates are accurate and complete
- Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors suppliers and other industry partners to stay informed about market conditions and best practices
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management Engineering or related field
- Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or Certified Cost Estimator (CCE) designation
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction estimating preferably in a similar industry or sector
- Strong knowledge of construction methods materials and industry trends
- Excellent analytical communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy and completeness of estimates
- Proficiency in estimating software including Excel Timberline or similar programs
- Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters in Construction Management Engineering or related field
- Additional certifications such as LEED AP or PMP
- Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and other digital construction technologies
- Knowledge of industry-specific software such as Procore or PlanGrid
