Job Description

  • Internal opportunity with the Asylum Seeker Programs (ASP) team
  • Full-Time Ongoing
  • Based in Brunswick
Your new role

As Senior Practitioner you will manage the daily operations of the Asylum Seeker Welcome Centre working to support and empower people seeking asylum. Youll collaborate with the Team Leader to deliver responsive services oversee a small team and ensure compliance with relevant policies regulations and funding requirements.

Your role includes stakeholder engagement program development and staff supervision all aimed at fostering inclusive community-driven support and social change.

Your skills and experience
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in social work community development and/or demonstrated experience in the leading of teams in the provision of casework services in the health or welfare sector.
  • Proven ability providing professional supervision to casework staff or a demonstrated understanding of the aspects of professional supervision (essential).
  • Knowledge of the issues facing people seeking asylum including issues that relate to people who have experienced torture and trauma (essential).
  • Experience providing support guidance and leadership resulting in high quality casework support and advocacy (essential).
  • Ability to work in a changeable environment and meet tight deadlines.
