Telecommunication Technician Level 2
Position Summary:
Alamon Inc. a Montana-based employee-owned company since 1975 provides installation services to the utilities energy and communications industries is no ceiling when it comes to your professional growth at Alamon an employee owned company.
Alamon Inc. seeks a Telecommunication Technician Level 2 for its Network Services (NWS) department.
This position entails: working in Central Offices MSO and/or Data Centers. This position will be installing equipment including but not limited to: Adtran Cisco Ciena (Ethernet and/or DWDM). Infinera Fujitsu Calix Nokia Galaxy 4848 and Galaxy Millennium Controllers. Vertiv Power Systems Eltek Power Systems and Wet/VRLA Battery replacements. This position requires extensive travel. Job Description:
  • Install configure and maintain telecommunication equipment. Including routers switches servers and infrastructure equipment.
  • Install and sew copper and fiber cables utilizing an array of connector types.
  • Install relay racking cable racking fiber ducting auxiliary framing and other superstructure elements (RJ45 wire wrapping BNC LC/SC etc.).
  • Run cables connect wires and ensure equipment is running properly and efficiently.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues including network connectivity equipment malfunctions and software errors.
  • Assist with upgrading and expanding systems to accommodate new technologies and increased capacity superstructure elements.
  • Understanding of hand tools test equipment and ability to use a computer to interface with customer products.
  • Proficient understanding and experience in lacing/stitching/sewing central office wire.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on performance status and completed work orders.
  • Work with team members technicians engineers and project managers to coordinate installs upgrades and perform maintenance.
  • Adhere to all safety standards and regulations set forth by the company and governmental regulations.
  • Stay up to date on industry practices and latest advancements in trends
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
  • Must pass the pre-employment screening process which includes a background check drug test and motor vehicle records pull.
  • Have the ability and mentality to work outdoors in a physically demanding work environment and all-weather conditions lifting or moving up to 50lbs. and hiking over various terrain.
  • Possess a current and valid drivers license and a clean driving record with no DUI / DWIs within the past 5 years.
  • Willing to travel locally statewide or regionally as required.
  • Be available to work nights and weekends as required by project demands.
Work Environment:
  • The Telecommunication Technician Level 2 position requires visiting Alamon customer site facilities nationwide travel is required.
  • Must be able to work in enterprise educational warehouse and manufacturing settings.
  • Indoor and outdoor work will be based off the scope of the contract.
  • Exposure to dust odors gases vapors varying noise levels and wet or slick surfaces may be possible.
  • When appropriate wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with Company standards and governmental regulations.
  • This position may require working outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions and terrain; may work for long periods in hot cold wet windy or icy conditions.
Physical Demands:
  • Must have physical strength balance hand-eye coordination and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. at a time.
  • Must be able to ride in a vehicle for extended periods of time to travel to and from job sites.
  • Ability to work in different temperatures and through changing weather conditions.
  • Must be able to traverse all areas of the Jobsite. This may include walking climbing reaching bending crawling kneeling or stretching.
  • Ability to clearly distinguish colors shades and brightness when working with multi-colored cablings such as twisted pair copper and fiber optic cable.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and use practical judgment while working through job assignments.
  • Ability to work at heights handle ladders along with pushing and pulling equipment.
Travel Requirements:
  • This position requires extensive travel.
  • Lodging is provided while working and traveling for the Company.
Education and Experience:
  • Highschool Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Possess excellent time-management skills and multitasking abilities.
  • Extensive understanding of hand tools test equipment and ability to use a computer to interface with customer products.
  • Proficient using a laptop and using Microsoft Office and Google Drive.
  • Communicate effectively including proficiency in written and verbal communications with strong listening skills.
  • Have the ability to work with and demonstrate the safe operation of power tools including bandsaws rotary tools cable cutters hammer drills and hydraulic crimpers.
  • Thorough understanding of and adherence to company safety policies and incident reporting procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret floor plans rack drawings and customer-provided work orders.
