The mission of Family Support Services is to be the leader in providing safety stability and quality of life for all children by working with the community to strengthen the family unit.

Job Summary

Provide direct oversight and training to the Placement Specialists and Intake Specialist to ensure appropriate placements for foster children are identified and stabilized. This position is responsible for oversight of paperwork and documentation in electronic data systems including Binti Mindshare and FSFN. The Placement Supervisor serves as a knowledgeable resource and point of contact to internal and external customers when management is unavailable.

Essential Job Duties

  • Provide direct oversight to a team of Intake and Placement Specialists to ensure that children are placed in the most appropriate placements in licensed foster care. Ensure that all policies procedures and statutes are followed related to the placement of children in out-of-home care. Provide assistance regarding difficult placement challenges. This includes keeping siblings together in placement whenever possible and placing children as close to their own community as possible. Goal is to minimize the number of movements a child has while in care. Identify youth with more complex needs and proactively monitor placement stability and service intervention.
  • Conduct staffings with service providers and the CMOs to discuss gaps in services and supports needed to maintain placement. Work with other departments within FSS to resolve placement issues.
  • Resolve minor conflicts regarding foster parent or CMO issues.
  • Provide oversight and follow up for accuracy of paperwork documentation within the Placement department.
  • Assist in monitoring and running reports related to the placement department and children in out-of-home care.
  • Act as the on-call supervisor for the placement staff in rotation with other backup supervisors.
  • Perform other duties.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience working with at-risk children and families preferred. 2 years experience with child welfare data systems required.
  • Child Welfare Professional Certification preferred.


Schedule & Hours

Monday through Friday 8:30AM to 5:00PM

Backup on-call one week every month
